Automatic sorting and managing logistics flows at Omoda
Omoda automated its logistics flows to support further growth. With an integrated transport system and smart packaging solutions, Vanas increased the speed, accuracy and ergonomics in the warehouse.
About Omoda
Omoda is a family business with a rich history in the shoe industry and has grown into a strong omnichannel player with stores and an extensive online shop in the Netherlands and Belgium. Year after year, the company continues to grow, which places high demands on their logistics organization.
The warehouse processes large volumes of shoes and accessories for both stores and online customers every day, supplemented by a complex return flow.
The logistical challenge
Omoda's logistics operation had several parallel flows: deliveries to stores, e-commerce orders, incoming deliveries and returns. These flows were partly intertwined, resulting in complexity, error sensitivity and capacity limitations.
Omoda was looking for a solution that:
- was able to clearly separate different logistical flows
- increased speed and error-free work
- was more ergonomic for employees
- remained scalable for further growth
Vanas's solution
Vanas designed an integrated internal transport system in which roller conveyors, belt conveyors, pushers, sorters and chain transducers work together into one logical whole. The existing transport system was expanded and optimized so that Omoda could continue to grow smoothly with market demand.
An E3NEO box setter and box sealer were integrated for the packaging zone. Empty boxes are automatically set up, cut to size and closed, making filling material unnecessary. After closing, the boxes are automatically provided with a shipping label via print & apply units.
Sorters ensure that every shipment — after scanning the shipping label — is automatically directed to the correct zone. Shoes for stores stay in their shoe boxes and are sent to the correct trolley, while online orders are shipped in the recognisable black Omoda boxes.
Recently, the system was further expanded with an automated inbound process, where barcode labels are automatically applied to new stock of shoe boxes. This increases traceability and optimizes inventory management.
